TEMPERAMENT

AKC Standard:

Temperament – fearless animantion, complete self- possession, and spirited presence.

Discussion:

Temperament is an EXTREMELY important part of the Min Pin “package”. Min Pins are fearless, active and alert and should show these traits in the ring. Min Pins tend to be curious and active, so may not stand perfectly still in the show ring. As long as a judge can see the outline and breed type of an exhibit, it shouldn’t matter that the dog changes positions, or watches things other than its handler. A Min Pin who cringes or slinks around the ring should NOT be rewarded. The tail should be up whether standing or moving; never clamped down. Although a puppy may be a little unsure of itself, this is obviously not the same as an adult who simply does not have the correct outgoing, self-assured temperament of the “King of Toys”.
